60k CYCLE:
What a beautiful day it was on Sunday after a terrible week-end forecast. Cyclists, being the eager bunch that they are, began to arrive at the community centre just after nine. Soon the forecourt was a riot of colour as up to seventy five cyclists assembled. After registering, they fell in behind the outriders and set off in the sunshine. Meanwhile the ladies set about making sandwiches and preparing teas. About two hours later they were back again safe and sound. The draw was held afterwards, winners - Martin Treacy - O'Gormans' Fuel Voucher. Gerry Mullane - Bottle Whiskey. Liam Murphy, Ballyagran - O'Gormans' Fuel Voucher. Well done to the two youngest participants, Conor O'Donoghue, Granagh and Jack Murray, Croom who completed the cycle also. Kevin Fitzgibbon did not fall into this category, as he thought. ! Later, that evening a barn dance was held by Theresa Kelly, at her home. She ran a huge raffle with over twenty prizes and Con and Eamon Mac volunteered for an impromptu head shave! All in all it was a very successful weekend, as money is still coming in they will have a better idea of the amount raised in a week or so. Con and Theresa would like to thank their Sponsors, most sincerely, for being so generous. Also, the huge number of volunteers, without whom it could not be done. Not forgetting the members of St. John's Ambulance crew and Gardaí who were in attendance during the day also.
LIBRARY:
Do you know the Mobile Library visits Granagh every fortnight between 12pm & 12.30pm. This is a free service - one of the very few - so why not avail of it. Next date - Friday 11th May, in front of the Church.
CHOMHBHRÓN:
We sympathise with Noel, Joanne(Treacy) O'Brien and family on the unexpected death of Noel's mother, Kathleen at the week-end.
