Results: - Our fantastic U8 team reached the Shield Final and were up against Kilcornan on Monday evening last. After yet another
exciting and nail biting match, they were just beaten on penalties. When the game finished in normal time the score was 3 - 3, Shane scored two and Josh 1. After extra time the score was 5 - 5, Shane scored 1 and Ryan 1. After the penalty shoot out, it ended 4 - 3. Of course it was heartbreaking for the team, to come so close to victory. However, they can be very proud of themselves for having reached a final, not every team that gets a chance to do that. They have played allot of games during the season and have played excellently the whole way through so they can be very proud of that record. Seamus Murphy and Joe Condon , the managers, are extremely proud of every one of them for their commitment to training, their great team work and the hundred and ten per cent they give at every match.
Man of the Match goes to Eoin Enright for his many outstanding saves as well as playing outfield also. Congratulations and Well done on a great achievement for such a young team. Team Members: - Eoin Enright, Sean Murphy, Daragh Clifford, James Stapleton, Shane Collins, Josh Lynch Raftery, Tom Curtin, Ciara English, David Bennett, Ryan Fitzgibbon, Daniel Herlihy, Rory Condon and Padraig Murphy.
Meeting : Club meeting Wednesday 8th, at 8.15pm in the clubhouse.
COMMUNITY GAMES:
National Finals: Last weekend we had great success in the National Finals in Athlone. In the U/10 Art competition Mark Sheahan had a brilliant result when he won bronze for Limerick and Granagh Ballingarry. In the U/12 event Ashutosh Yadav also put in a great effort .
Our Cross Country runners had mixed fortunes with Conor Lynch's U/12 team reaching the final but finishing outside the medals . Even though Aoife McEnery's team were very young they were unlucky not to qualify for Sundays final.
Our U/13 Choir had another fruitful visit to Athlone when they captured Silver on Saturday night in a competition with fifteen teams and a very high standard of performance. Our heartiest congratulations to all our competitors and managers and to the parents who helped in any way.
Celebration Night: On Thursday evening next, 9th, in the hall Ballingarry at 7.00 pm we will have a little celebration for our medal winners. The Choir will be presented with their medals and will perform for all those present. This will be a great opportunity for anyone who would like to hear the choir and to meet all our competitors. All are welcome.
