GRANAGH UTD. F.C:
A.G.M. We invite all interested parties, parents, managers, juniors to attend our AGM on Friday 24th June, 8.30pm, in the Community Centre. Usually people do not attend in case they get a job but we have to look past that, because the viability of
the club is at stake. See the following note regarding the Lotto.
Lotto: Unfortunately, the Club finds itself in the position of having to temporarily suspend the Lotto as there are no volunteers
available to sell tickets . All the teams have done their month, some have even done two months. The Lotto is the lifeblood of the
Club and pays everything from ESB bills to entry fees and all miscellaneous bills. It costs approximately five thousand plus to run the
club per year. Grant aid is almost a thing of the past so where is the money to come from ? This is a major issue which will be up
for discussion at the AGM. We need as many people as possible to attend to get their views and ideas.
COMMUNITY GAMES:
Saturday 11th June was another memorable day for the Ballingarry/Granagh Community Games. We were well represented at the County Finals of the Swim B Gala in Bawnmore. First off was Emily Flynn who started our fantastic day when she took gold in the U/8 Girls ,1 Width Freestyle, to follow were the Boys U/8 where all three competitors were awarded medals, Brian Sheehy 1st Place, Michael Sheahan 3rd Place and Niall Sheahan joint 4th place. Mark Sheahan was not leaving a medal behind and he glided home in 3rd place in the Boys U/10, 1 Length Backstroke.
Next up Orla Lenihan gave a wonderful display of speed and strength in the Girls U/12 ,2 Length Freestyle when she was awarded 2nd Place. Eoin Sheahan was not going to leave the side down and fought a great race and finished 3rd in the Boys U/12, 2 Length Freestyle.
Chloe Tangney was next to swim in the individual events Girls U/14, 2 Length Backstroke this was a very tight final and Chloe swam her heart out and claimed 3rd Place.
Last but not least in the individual events Harriet Cronin took to the water and did us proud claiming 2nd place in the Girls U/14, 2 Length Freestyle.
To end the day four Girls for Christ the Saviour School in Ballingarry took part in the U/13 Squad 4 x 1 Length Girls. All four Girls put on an amazing display and fought off strong competition from the other eight teams to take gold medals. Well done to Harriet Cronin, Eve Higgins, Chloe Tangney and Orla Lenihan.
Many thanks to Debbie & Declan English for their commitment to the swimming and sharing of their coaching skills. Its very much appreciated and paid off on the day.
