DANCE  EXHIBITION:

The National School dance show was held in the community centre last Tuesday night with a very big crowd  in attendance.    They were entertained firstly by the Community Games Choir who achieved second place at the Finals in Athlone recently.    With Noelle conducting and Susie on guitar, they sang their three songs - ' Dúlamán '.  ' The man who can't be moved '  and  ' Jungle  Rhythm '  .     They gave a fantastic performance with beautiful harmonies, solos and movements.     Great credit is due to all involved for their dedication and commitment.   The children also sing in the Church Choir for the Communion masses.  They receive great training , so if your child can sing it it would be very worthwhile for them to join.  Once the choir finished the dancing began.                                                                                                                                                The Juniors, Seniors and First Class group couldn't wait to get  the show going and display their dancing steps.   They danced to music from The Bee Gees to Kate Perry to Lady Ga Ga and were so energetic, one would be breathless watching them.    Second and Third classes were in the next grouping  with more difficult moves to songs from Justin Bieber, Black Eyed Peas and Miley Cyrus.  Last, but not least we had the fourth, fifth and sixth class group who began with Miley Cyrus ' Can't be Tamed '  and followed with my favourites 'In the Mood' by Glen Miller and ' Night Fever' by The Bee Gees.    They finished up with ' The Catwalk', where all the children were introduced to the audience in pairs
and they got a great round of applause.
A huge amount of time and work goes into this show over the year and many thanks to their dance teacher Shelley for the weekly classes.
Chairperson of the Parents Association, Susie Butler,  presented a cheque to Mrs. McMahon, proceeds from their Cake Sale earlier in the year.    They also presented a Garden Centre Voucher to the school, in appreciation for introducing the children to gardening.   Between the teachers and Mr. Sheehan an amount of work goes into preparing the garden and making sure each child gets to take home some of the produce.
Finally, the sixth class students presented Mrs. McMahon with their own card and a bouquet of flowers as they leave the National school in June to begin the next phase of their school life.
The teachers and pupils then returned to the school for some refreshments while the parents had a cuppa and a chat to finish off a lovely evening.    More photos on   '  mylocalnews.ie '

SUNSHINE  FOR GARDEN  WALK:
What an unbelievable day Sunday turned out to be - weather wise and crowd wise.!    After two weeks of mostly wind and rain, Sunday was forecast as being the best day.?   This news was taken with a pinch of salt as we  made preparations for the open day at Lady Harrington's home in The Glen.     Lady Harrington had kindly offered to open her gardens to raise funds for the Kilpeacon Tower project as well as
Granagh Development.   We were delighted to be able to provide helpers and supply the teas on the day.    A huge amount of work was done by Lady Harrington along with Ned, Rita, Patrick and Jenny over the past month to have the whole place looking fabulous.   The sunshine and crowds we could not guarantee,  but,  they made their appearance on the day  and what an evening it turned out to be.    Everyone was able to wander at their ease around the gardens, find the nooks and crannies, enjoy all the scented roses and examine the vegetable garden  in detail.   People then arrived back  to the courtyard to sit and relax with their tea/coffees and pastries and have a chat in the warm sunshine.
Stephen from Hillberry Garden Centre provided a most colourful plant stall there.   Beside him Amanda and Francesca had a huge supply of cuttings potted up, from flowering plants to all kinds of vegetables.    The had also had gooseberries, eggs, jams and even a crate of bantam hens.   By the end of the evening there was very little left to tidy away.   Thanks to our helpers - Sean, Mick, Martin, Mike, Marian, Anne & the Marys' .

COMMUNITY  GAMES:                                                                                                                                                                                                 County Athletics Finals.        Best of luck to our competitors taking part in the County Athletics Finals this Weekend at Mungret GAA Grounds .   The Girls & Boys Long Puck will take place on Thursday evening with track events on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th.
