Meeting:
Thanks to the following who attended last week's meeting - Seamus Murphy, Tom O'Regan, Tom Hickey, Richard O'Donoghue,
Fran & Mary Raftery, Anne Leahy, Bridget Tierney, Carmel Clifford and Mary O'Regan.
1. It was decided to arrange a weekly rota for the lotto teams, hoping that this might make it easier for people to volunteer for one Friday night instead of four. Some teams are still short, so we could do with 3 more volunteers, to bring up their numbers. This will mean
that each team is on for just one Friday night in every seven.
Next week-end Joe Scanlon, Marie McMahon and Mary Lynch Raftery are on, but their are short one person - so any volunteers can text their names to Mary on 087-9139902.
2. It was also decided to up-date the list of those who pay a yearly contribution. To be included in every draw, you can now pay €30
for six months or €50 for the year. Seamus, Richard and Joe are to tackle this task.
3. We agreed that a ' Cash for Clobber ' fundraiser could be held in October. So, hold on to your old coats, shoes, bags, belts, books, hats, scarves, curtains and towels and we will take them from you.
GIFT OF BLOOD:
After many years of saying ' I must do that ', I eventually did it and I am sorry I didn't do it sooner.! For the relatively small effort required,
I now know three thousand donations are needed every week, a donation can save up to three lives and I am among that small percentage
- 6% - of the eligible population currently giving this amazing gift. The next time you hear that ad , you know what to do. !

THE TALL SHIPS:
I was delighted to get a chance to visit Waterford over the week-end to see the spectacle and enjoy the entertainment at the Tall Ships Races.
The committee and volunteers must be praised for the fantastic organisation and planning which made it a hassle free event for all the visitors. Everything from parking, shuttle buses, toilet facilities, all kinds of food/drinks, to the people who were collecting the rubbish - everyone who had a job to do, no matter how small, contributed enormously to the success of this event. It's no wonder that it was two years in the planning, through teamwork and collaboration they got it right. The races are the jewel in the crown of sail training - an activity which provides young people with adventure and amazing experiences. This year there will be over one hundred and fifty young Irish people on board various Tall Ships which set off for Greenock in Scotland on Sunday.
