NATIONAL SCHOOL:
We had a fabulous night of dancing as the children of the school entertained us at their end of year show. Each of the groups had four different songs to perform
so there was lots of learning to be done over the year. The Juniors, Seniors and First Class performed ' Single Ladies' , 'Scooby Doo', ' Dora' and ' I just can't
wait to be King' from the Lion King. They were all excellent. The Second and Third classes were really in the groove with ' Ice Ice Baby ' , from Jedward,
' Fergilicious ', ' So What' , and ' Cam Rock '. The fourth, fifth and sixth classes did excerpts from ' Thriller' and' Joseph ', ' U know what I want' and a medley
from ' Sister Act'. Congratulations and well done to everyone for a great performance. Many thanks to the teachers for allowing dancing time on the schedule
as it is a fun way to exercise and to Shelley for teaching all those fantastic moves to the children. Afterwards the teachers treated the children to sweets and
drinks and the parents' association provided tea and sweet things for the parents.
Graduation Mass: We had another lovely celebration with the school children on Saturday evening for the sixth class graduation mass.
Before Mass began, Oonagh Pierce introduced the four students bringing up symbols representing their school year :- Jack O'Donoghue brought a Candle,
Edward Sheehy brought the Bible, Aine Sheehy brought a basket of produce from the school garden and Rebecca Noonan brought a Cup and Medal won
during the year. Prayers of the Faithful were offered by Calum & Jason Leahy and Lorraine Power. Niamh Power read the post communion reflection.
Sam & Natasha brought up the communion gifts as they will both be changing schools next year and we wish them the very best of luck and happiness.
At the end of Mass, Fr. Lane presented each student with a beautiful framed certificate as a memento of Granagh School.
