Local news 30th April

DEVELOPMENT ASSOC:

Committee Meeting on Wednesday 29th at 8.00pm, in the Community Centre.

GRANAGH UTD. F.C.

Lotto results:
There was no winner of the €3,900 in the lotto draw this week.
Numbers drawn were 3.11.14.27
Lucky dip winners of €20 each were Hannah Murphy Granagh, Noel Stapleton Granagh, Caroline Clifford Nenagh.
Next weeks jackpot is €4,000.

U10:
On Saturday afternoon the 25th our U10 team hosted Ferry Rangers in the 2nd round of the cup. The first half produced no goals but Ferry can thank their keeper for that as Granagh tested him time and time again. The second half started much the same until Richard Walsh broke the deadlock with a fine strike about ten minutes in to the half, and two minutes later Dean Kenny got on the score sheet with a great goal that paved the way in to the next round. Final score 2-0 to Granagh.

U14:
Our U14 team were also supposed to be in action in their last game of the season against N.C.W. But a walkover from the opposition saw our lads not only win the league but also go the entire season unbeaten. The lads deserved their league title as they have worked very hard on the training ground this season, and brought that work on to the field come match day through out the season. So well done to the under 14 panel and managers and the best of luck for next season.

Junior:
Our junior team were in action against St Itas on Sunday afternoon.
To be fair to St Itas they were under strength on the day and our lads finished comfortable winners but we would like to thank them for a sporting game.

Presentation: On this coming Friday 1st May, 6.30pm - 9.00pm, in The Rock Bar, presentations will be made to the U14s & U12s who were cup winners in the Desmond League, Div 2.
Also there are medals to be presented to last seasons' U10s for their win in the Desmond League, Div 3. Their manager at the time, Jimmy Sheehy, placed the medals in his safe and when he tried to get them out, couldn't remember the code !! It's not that he's pushing on a bit and the memory is going - its just he's so upset over the fact that Man U lost to Liverpool and Everton ???

COMMUNITY GAMES:

Congratulations to all the participants who took part in the County Finals of the Cross Country Running last Sunday. There were six different categories U9, U11, U12, U13, U14 & U17. Granagh/ Ballingarry had a huge number of competitors who braved the elements, so well done to all the children, parents and trainers.

COMMUNION:

On Saturday 2nd May at 11am we will have ten children receiving their First Holy Communion. The painting of the Church has been completed and it is looking very well, so hopefully the weather will remain dry for a few hours. Congratulations, in advance to: Olivia Bennett, Ashlinn Herlihy, Rebecca Twomey, Sarah Condon, Ellen Murphy, Gearoid Lynch, Sam O' Sullivan, Aaron Noonan, Kenneth O' Flaherty and David Lynch.
