HEEL  PRICK  CARD:
After March 31st, the HSE plans to destroy the blood samples of a whole generation of Irish children born between 1984 and 2002.   These samples were taken by pricking the heel of every baby born in this country.   They are used to screen newborn infants for a variety of diseases.   The decision to destroy a store of almost twenty years of samples on ' data protection' grounds is a disgrace.   If your child is aged between ten and thirty it is possible to have their Heel Prick Card rescued from destruction and sent to you.   You can obtain a form at www.newbornscreening.ie or phone the HSE at 1850 24 1850.   You need to have the forms, copies of birth certs etc sent in before the end of March.

ST. PATRICK'S  DAY:
Sending ' Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig ' to all our parishioners.   A special mention for relations and neighbours who may be in hospital and in nursing homes.    We also think of family members who are away from home and scattered all over the world.   A lovely Blessing, I came across -   " May the Irish Hills caress You.   May her Lakes & Rivers Bless you.    May the Luck of the Irish enfold you .   May the Blessings of Patrick behold you. "
