GRANAGH NOTES -- 5/6TH DEC.

GRANAGH UTD. F.C:
Sympathy:    All Club Officers, Members and Players wish to extend their deepest sympathies to Joan & Timmy Scanlon and their family as well as Ciara and baby Sophie on the tragic death of Joe, over the weekend.    We are all still in a state of shock and disbelief.    The crowds attending the removal and funeral paid tribute to a friend, colleague, neighbour and sportsman.   Not only a skilful and dedicated soccer player himself, he gave up his free time to coach the U14s last year and the U16s this year.   All the players loved having him as coach because he was very fair and tried to make sure everyone got a game.   He was great to encourage each and every player and always praised their efforts, whether they won or lost.   As an Arsenal supporter he was probably outnumbered but was well able for the slagging and could give as good as he got.!
Joe also volunteered as member of our Lotto teams and was a well know face in Ballyagran and Croom.    He never missed his week on duty and often filled in for others at short notice.    In our future matches, we are going to miss him striding up and down the line, shouting out instructions or muttering to himself when things were not going too well.!    Joe's death will leave a huge void in many people's lives.
" Death leaves a heartache no one can heal but Love leaves a memory no one can steal " .
Go raibh leaba in measc na Naomh aige.
