Friday 29th - 5.30pm - Estuary Park ..!!
Granagh Utd will be welcoming an U16 team all the way from Southend Manor in the U.K. , to the pitch next Friday evening.
Kevin Clifford has put together an U16 team to play on Friday as well as competing in a round robin competition in Mallow, on Sunday 1st.
The connection with the UK came through John Hedderman, a nephew of Kitty (Gorey) Fitzgerald. John was born in Manister but
spent many of his childhood summers in Kilmore, moved to the UK and set up home but never lost his links with Granagh. He has the Observer posted on to him every week, so he is very up to date. He wanted to strengthen these links through soccer and got in touch with Kevin last January to arrange this match.
We hope parents will bring their up and coming soccer players to this match, to support these teams and make sure we give Southend Manor a great welcome.

CONGRATULATIONS:
Bernie Carroll, Coolruss, was recently awarded the JFC Innovation Award for Rural Business at a function in the Clayton Hotel, Galway.
Bernie has been placing foreign students in secondary schools since 2002, through Ballyhoura and then decided to develop this further by setting up her own business ' Student Programme Ireland ' about two years ago. Bernie identified the demand for students to live with
Irish families and attend local secondary schools and in 2009 placed over one hundred students in schools around Munster and Connacht. In 2010 this number grew to one hundred and sixty and is set for further growth. The awards, now going into their fifth year, have highlighted excellent ideas that rural entrepreneurs have used to set up new businesses. Not only do those who make the final, benefit from the generous prize fund and prestigious award but eligible entrants will get feedback on their plans from an expert judging panel. These include the Mentors , Paul Mc Carthy and Peter Young from the RTE rural entrepreneur series "Higher Ground". The judging and feedback has proved to be more than helpful to those that are exploring or developing new business enterprise especially in these times. Over sixty people with business ideas, were judged and every one of them was determined to make their business happen. The very high standard made picking the finalists very difficult and there were many great businesses that missed out.
Bernie won through some very stiff opposition and was presented with her award by Mr. John Concannon, Managing Director of JFC.
