Local Notes 21st December

COMHBHRÓN:
Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family of Mary Noonan,  on her passing, at home Sunday evening.   She is deeply regretted by her
sister, sons, daughters, grandchildren.   For many years, Mary was Sacristan of Granagh Church which she looked after with great care.   She
was a lovely lady and always a pleasure to meet.  Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas sioraí d'anam uasal.

GRANAGH UTD. F.C:
Last week, during the thaw, some teams got in a bit of training but as the weather conditions disimproved again, no matches were played at the weekend.
Happy Christmas wishes to all our players, coaches and managers.   See you all in the New Year.

TEA  DANCING:
Unfortunately,  we had to cancel the afternoon dancing for safety reasons, the road conditions were just too bad to have people travelling.
We did not plan to have any dance in January, as it would clash with the play, so we will be back on Sunday  20th February, music by  Pakie Moloney.
COMMUNITY  GAMES:
Due to recent weather conditions, the merit award night to be held on  Thursday 23rd is cancelled.   A new date will be rearranged in early 2011.
Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and a great New Year.

LECTURE  DAYS:
For anyone thinking ahead a few months, complete One-Day Per Subject Revision Courses for Junior and Leaving Cert 2011.
All Ireland events, mainly held in University Lecture Theatres, seewww.leavingcertlecturedays.ie

BIRTHDAY:
Congratulations to Marylee Stapleton, who celebrated her birthday at the weekend , after she had attended a play practice first of course.!

CHRISTMAS  LIGHTS:
Don't forget to  take the children to visit Bernie & Joe Carrolls' Christmas lighting display at Coolruss.   They have a huge display and all donations are
going to St. Josephs Foundation.

GRANAGH  PLAYERS:
Last rehearsals this week as we all try to fit in the Santa visit before the weekend.    Jimmy promised to take us but his trusty Micra couldn't take the crowd.!
The cast have got to the end of the play and last seven people have been found.   Henchmen have been hired, smugglers press ganged and to top it off the keeners
are constantly ologóning in the background.   There are seventeen people involved in total so its mainly mayhem each night, trying to keep out of each others way.
It will be all systems go in January and we just hope the weather will be very much improved for the end of the month.

CHRISTMAS  WISHES:
Sending good wishes to all the families in the parish,  the annual visitors and those who are ill at home, in hospital and nursing homes.   Remembering those who
are not so fortunate, for whom Christmas does not bring any happiness and those who have lost their nearest and dearest.
Maybe . . . it is true that we don't know what we have until we lose it.
Maybe . . . the happiest of people  don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of  everything that comes along their way.
Maybe . . . happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt,  and all those
who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of all the people who have touched their lives.
May be . . you should do something nice for someone every single day,
even if it is simply to leave them alone.
"Life is only travelled ONCE;   Today’s  MOMENT  becomes Tomorrow’s  MEMORY.
Enjoy every moment, good or bad, because the GIFT of LIFE  is  LIFE  itself…."

Many thanks for everything throughout the year, wishing all the staff a very Merry Christmas and may 2011 be a good one.
