YOUTH CHOIR:
Congratulations to the members of the choir on getting through their audition on Limerick's Live 95Fm's Talent search. Fresh from their performance in St. Johns Cathedral for the St. Mary McKillop celebration, they were back in Limerick again last Saturday. There are forty eight acts through, in total, which will be divided over four semi-final nights in University Concert Hall. The choir are appearing in the third semi-final, Friday 14th January, 8pm,from which three acts will go through to the final. The judges will decide on two of the acts, but the third vote will be from the audience. Therefore, it would be most important to have as much support as possible in the theatre that night. Best of Luck to all.
BELLTABLE'S DEBUT:
The new play ' Anything But Love ' is the first production in the newly renovated Belltable Arts Centre. The producer and director is our own Joan Sheehy who has long been associated with the Belltable. The play is written by Mary Coll, herself a former director of the theatre and the score was specially written by Micheál O'Suilleabhain. It is the story of a family reunited in their childhood home, by the impending death of their mother. Set in the 'leafy suburbs' of the Ennis road, it features two sisters who share a doomed love for the same man. Running from 26th Nov to 11 Dec, 8.00pm nightly ( excl Sundays).
MOLL'S GAA DEBUT:
I went to see Mary Liston's production of Moll in Banogue, on Sunday night and I must say it was excellent. To get a group of people together, to act in a play, the majority having little or no stage experience, is no easy task ! However, she did it and they turned out to be a great team.!! As usual there are great lines in it and great laughs. Joe Biggane is the easy going Canon, who likes his food and comfy surroundings. Curate No.1, Vincent Griffin, really likes his food, but can't get enough of it.... and does he complain - never stops !! Curate No.2, Fiachra Liston is harmless out, more interested in The Beano than parish affairs ! Once Moll gets her foot in the door she plans to make changes which the curates don't like. !! An unusual romance blossoms between Ulick ( Tom Storan ) and Ms. Andover or Ms Hotpants (Breda Gavan), has to be seen to be believed. His Lordship the Bishop ( Mike Meade) makes an appearance with very important news. The setting is fabulous, the cosy parlour of the parochial house. Highly recommended viewing, don't miss it, running this week from Wed 24th to Sun 28th nightly at 8pm.
