There was no winner in the lotto draw this week. Numbers drawn were 2.18.20.30.

Lucky dip winners of €20 each went to Claire Costello Croom, Eddie Houlihan Lees Cross & Bernie Lynch Ballyagran.

Next weeks draw takes place in Hickeys Bar Croom for a jackpot of €8,000.

PARENTING SKILLS:

The parenting course got under way last Thursday with fifteen people participating.

The facilitator is Con O'Sullivan, Author and Lecturer.

SPEECH & DRAMA:

Classes are recommencing in the Community Centre on Thursday 16th Sept. 6yrs to 9yrs old ~ 6pm - 7pm.

ADDICTION STUDIES:

Co. Limerick VEC in partnership with the HSE and the Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force will be running one module (one credit at FETAC Level 5) in a Community Addiction Studies Course (CASC) this autumn. The programme will take place for three hours one evening a week over thirteen weeks commencing in October .

Venue: Desmond College, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. The module is designed to enable people to learn about drugs and their effects; to develop an understanding of addiction; to examine their own attitudes; to become more effective in their personal responses; and to develop the skills and knowledge to become more effective in responding to drug misuse in their own communities.

Please note that while there will be a charge of approximately €120 to take part, participants will be eligible to receive a bursary of €100 from the Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force on completion of the course. Please contact Roisin in Co. Limerick VEC on 061 442100 .

DIPLOMA WITH UCC:

The course is offered on three levels

Level 1 is the Diploma in Rural Development by Distance Learning. On completion of Level

One students have the option to graduate with the Diploma or progress to the degree phase

of the programme. Levels 2 & 3 represent two years' further study to degree level.

It aims to introduce you to the rural development policy framework;

To enable you to develop a broad based knowledge of the theoretical field of rural

development.

To equip you with the skills to manage rural development activities such as

community/area analysis, area planning, enterprise and project management.

To equip you with skills in the main aspects of management and marketing for

rural and farm based enterprise.

To equip you with skills to combat social exclusion in rural areas.

To prepare you to avail of employment opportunities with both rural and local

development organisations in your own area.

An information session for anybody interested in this course will be held in the Charleville Park Hotel on Monday 20th September at 7.30pm. Representatives from UCC will be present to provide a brief overview of the course and to answer questions and queries on the course itself.

Well, at this stage it 's actually belated birthday wishes to Sean Cagney. Neighbours and friends gathered at John & Marguerite

Lynch's home to arrange a surprise party, for his 70th. Usually, Sean is in the know about all the goings on, but this time he was

well and truly surprised. A great night and a late night was had by all accounts.
