GET WELL:
Our thoughts and best wishes are with Jimmy Sheehy and family. He is still in the Regional recovering from a bad farm accident.
However, we have a number of people from Granagh in there and I'm sure they will keep a very close eye on him.

Richard O'Donoghue came of age last weekend ????? Great celebrations in The Rock. Only another forty to catch up with Hannie.
APOSTOLIC TEA DANCE:
We could have held the dance outside on Sunday 23rd, it was such a beautiful warm day ! We were delighted with the turnout as there were many other events taking place and many people would also have headed to the seaside. The ladies provided most beautiful home baking, fresh cream scones, tarts, biscuit cake etc and we tried our best to do them justice. As usual, Pakie Moloney and Seamus Sheehy provided wonderful music for the evening which was very much
appreciated by all. Many thanks to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle, there were twenty in all. Thanks to Nora O'Keeffe for the lovely photos
in the Observer and sincere thanks to all who came to support this worthy cause.
COMMUNITY GAMES:
National Finals - Athlone
“31 Competitors - 31 Medals”
The heading says it all ! Last weekend thirty one children from Ballingarry and Granagh travelled to Athlone to compete in the Community Games National Finals.
We had competitors in Art, Draughts, Cross Country Running, Group Singing and Choir.
The support for the weekend was simply fantastic and without a shadow of a doubt it can be said that each and everyone that travelled to Athlone for the Weekend
had a very memorable one.
Art Boys U/10
First up was Eoin Sheahan who sat at his desk at 9.00 am to compete in the Boys U.10 Art competition. At 1.00 pm the cheers rang out as Eoin was awarded 4th place. This was the start of our winning streak.
Draughts Mixed U/10
Semi Final : - We had an early morning start on Saturday when we were down to play against Sligo. After some absorbing contests we were unlucky not to be in the finals as we had to give way to a very determined team. There is no shame to be beaten by this outfit as they have numerous national titles in this competition.
Play offs:- Monaghan were the opposition in the play offs for 3rd and 4th and again it was an early morning start on Sunday. Spirits were high among our players and our large number of supporters and after some nail biting matches we were deservedly winners.
Our team of Orla Lenihan, Eoin Sheahan, Mark Sheahan, Eve Higgins, Gearoid Lynch, Sophie Alymer and Luke Flynn defied their youth and expectations to become the third best team in Ireland (no mean achievement). This team started out last October and put in massive efforts at training and competitions. They were always on great behaviour which was a credit to their parents and were always willing and eager to learn. Congratulations and well done to each and all.
Great credit to Mike Sheahan and Breda Lynch who ensured that this team was well versed in all aspects of the game. Also to Anne Higgins, our secretary, who does an amount of tireless work to ensure that everything runs like clockwork.
Many thanks to the parents who brought players to training and to competitions and helped out when ever needed.
Finally the curtain closes on the 2010 Draughts season with National medals. A super fantastic achievement.
Cross Country Running.
Girls U/12 600m Relay
Aoife McEnery was part of the Limerick Team who claimed 4th place in the girls U/12 600m relay. Aoife ran a great race for the team and can be very proud of herself.
U/14 Group Singing.
Well done to Jack Cagney, Cathal O’Keeffe, Patrick Shelton and Nathan Clancy who returned to the stage in Athlone IT early Sunday Morning. These boys had a long wait as they were last up but they were well worth waiting for. Jack, Cathal, Patrick and Nathan sang two songs by Westlife and it has to be said the audience were amazed by these four boys. We didn’t have to wait long for the results to hear they were awarded 3rd place. Well done to the boys and to their Managers.
U13 Mixed Choir:
Congratulations to our fantastic boys and girls for achieving 3rd place in their Finals.
There were ten teams in all competing to a very high standard , as you would imagine at this level. Clare, Kerry and Limerick were representing Munster up against Monaghan, Mayo, Galway, Sligo, Offaly, Kildare and Laois. Our choir were last on stage so they were able to see and hear at least six of the choirs,
which was a good experience. However they must have been getting tired as they were up since early morning preparing. Noelle and Susie were equally
tense and excited and just asked the choir to do their very best and remember all that they had rehearsed. As Ballingarry/Granagh were introduced the supporters present gave them a great cheer as they marched up to the stage. They performed their three songs beautifully, doing all that they were asked and left it in the judges hands. We didn't have to wait very long for the announcement - 4th Galway, 3rd Limerick, 2nd Mayo and 1st Monaghan. We were all thrilled that
the choir did so well for their first time in a national final and the fact that they were the youngest of all the competing choirs.
The presentation ceremony was delayed for an hour because they ran out of medals. When we got in to the ceremony, Anthony Fitzsimons was delighted to be
presenting a Limerick team with medals and asked them to sing a song for him, which they did in great style. He introduced each member as they got their medals and they got an official photo taken.
When we got back on the bus, there was another presentation to be made. Susie called for Shaunagh Fitzgibbon to come forward and presented her with a medal also. Shaunagh goes to all the rehearsals and stands in when people are missing as well as travelling up on the bus that morning also.
Sincere thanks to their managers Noelle Dunworth and Susie Butler for the time, training and dedication they have given to the boys and girls. They were helped out by Theresa Noonan ,Grainne Dunworth and Fiona Purtill. Finally thanks to the children themselves for taking part in the choir and their parents for encouraging them. Congratulations and well done to all.
Our Choir members are ; - Shauna Cagney, Chloe Tangney, Shauna Lynch, MJ Purtill, Jacob Butler, Eve Butler, Eimhin O’Regan, Rhianne Martin, Leanne Herlihy, Olivia Bennett, Aishlinn Herlihy, Aoife McGoey, Aaron Noonan, Athene Storey Cosgrave, Norina Broderick, Beth Stapleton, Rebecca Noonan,
