GRANAGH-BALLINGARRY BORD Na nÓG:

Last week we held our G.A.A. Cúl Camp in Ballingarry, which forty nine children attended. A great week was had by all. We were very lucky with the
weather as we got very little rain. Our coaches this year were David Ward, Catherine Hartnett, Eoin Barry, Mike Kiely, Bart Hanley and Eoin Hayes,
who were very dedicated. Thanks to all the parents who supervised during the lunch breaks. Thanks to all our sponsors who provided treats for the
children. We were honoured with visits from two great Limerick Hurlers on Friday - our own Donal O'Grady and 'Man of the Match' V Dublin, Gavin O'
Mahony. Both gave their time freely signing numerous autographs and standing in for photos. Hopefully some of our young players will be following
in ye're footsteps ! Our co-coordinator this year was Donagh McCarthy, who did a fantastic job all week. He must be well in with the 'Man Above' as we
enjoyed great weather for the week. Donagh says he's already looking forward to next year !

SNIPPETS:

I read the following in the Charleville Church Bulletin - food for thought.
How to raise a Juvenile Delinquent ( by the Houston Police Dept.)
1. Begin in infancy to give the child everything he wants. In this way he will grow up to believe the world owes him a living.
2. When he picks up bad words, laugh at him. This will make him think he's cute. It will also encourage him to pick up other
phrases that will blow the top off your head later.
3. Never give him any spiritual training. Wait until he is 21 and then let him decide for himself.
4. Avoid the use of the word ' wrong' , it may develop a guilt complex. This will condition him to believe later, when he is arrested for
stealing a car, that society is against him and that he is being persecuted.
5. Pick up everything he leaves lying around - books, shoes and clothing. Do everything for him so he will be experienced in throwing
all responsibility onto others.
6. Let him read any printed matter he can get his hands on. Be careful that the silverware and drinking glasses are sterilised, but let
his mind feast on garbage.
7. Quarrel with your spouse frequently in the presence of your children. In this way they will not be too shocked when the home breaks
up later.
8. Give the child all the spending money he wants, never let him earn his own. Why should he have things as tough as you had them ?
9. Satisfy his every craving for food, drink and comfort. See that every sensual desire is gratified. Denial may lead to harmful frustration.
10. Take his part against neighbours, teachers and policemen. They are all prejudiced against your child.
11. When he gets into trouble, apologise for yourself by saying, " I never could do anything with him "
12. Prepare for a life of grief. You are likely to have it.

As an aside to that:- On Monday evening, I found that the flower heads, in the newly planted window boxes, at the Community Centre,
had all been pulled off and thrown around the place.
