The Mighty U10s:
On Wednesday evening last, we all headed off to Newcastle West for the Shield Final match versus Old Mill. It was one of those fabulous evenings we had
and it was still so warm at 7pm that people were standing underneath the trees for shade. Both teams were very determined and the first half was very
fast paced. Granagh had several chances at goal but could not put it in the net, which left the half time score 0-0.
In the second half, Granagh got the first score which was an og from a Sean Walsh cross into the box. Old Mill, however, persisted and as a result got two
corners and scored from each one. With only minutes left they got in a third one. Our boys kept trying to the very end but could not come back.
Of course, it was a major disappointment on the night for the whole panel and especially those who will be moving on to the next level.
Seamus and Kevin would like to congratulate the boys on a marvelous season, and thank them for their attendance in training and their good behaviour throughout.
Last Match for U6s & U8s on Wednesday 10th June, in Kilcornan at 7.15pm. Meeting at O'Gorman's at 6.30pm.
Don't forget our A.G.M - Thursday 25th June at 9.00pm in the community centre Granagh.
SCHOOL NEWS:
Congratulations again, to Rebecca Noonan, who is on the panel for the County Primary Schools Camogie team. She is heading off to Dungarven on the
27th June, to take part in the Munster Blitz. Wishing her and all the team the very best of luck.
SHANAVOTHA GRAVEYARD:
Many thanks to those who turned up on Monday evening for a clean-up in the main graveyard. Many hands made light work and a fabulous job was done.
We might as well keep the momentum going and do the same in Shanavotha next Monday night 15th, anytime from 7.00 pm. All Welcome.
ABANDONED PUPS:
This is the third year in a row that pups have been dropped off on the Graigacurra road. They are the same breed, same colour and same age as in previous
years so, probably, the same person is responsible. The simple answer is to have the mother neutered, but of course that costs money and these people would not
consider such spending to be worthwhile. So, let the mother continue to have pups that are not wanted ?? It is both cruel and very unfair to drop off these pups, six this time, and pass on their responsibility to someone else. We would be delighted to hear from anyone out there, who can offer any of these puppies a good home.
MILFORD HOSPICE:
Many thanks to Joan Brosnan for standing with me at the collection over the weekend. It was a very cold and miserable night, wherever the sunshine disappeared to .!
Sincere thanks to all who contributed and we will be forwarding E 250.00 on your behalf.
Next Sunday 13th / 14th all Churches will be holding a collection to help fund the forthcoming Eucharistic Congress in 2012.
