GUITAR CLASS:
The members of Susie's Guitar Class put on their end of year show in the Community Centre last Tuesday night. As this was their first performance after only
begininng lessons last September, I'm sure it must have been nervewracking for them. However, it did not come across to the audience as they gave a wonderful
show. They had it all very well rehearsed and everyone knew what they were to do. As well as learning the guitar, they also get a chance to play the bongo drums and the bass guitar. First up were the Primary Students: - Thea Broderick, Jackie Chawke, Hanora Condon, James Herlihy, Christine Lynch, Jennifer Noonan, Eoin O'Connell and Eimhin O'Regan. They sang and played songs such as ' I can be your Hero' , 'I had a Dream', 'You raise me Up'. ' Stuck in the Middle', and 'Fields of Athenry'.
Next we had the Secondary Students :- Lauren Clancy, Alan Chawke, Sean Donegan, James Donegan, Katie Ford, Laura Kelly, Grainne Noonan and Colm Noonan.
They had more difficult tunes such as ' Lean on Me', ' Time of your Life' , 'Wonderwall', 'When You say Nothing at All' and 'Accidently in Love' .
Both groups gave excellent performances and parents could not believe how much had been learned in the last nine months. Both Susie and the parents were extremely proud of the students and the progress they had made. Now that they have all the hard work done this year, the next term it will be much easier.
Susie then invited some of her Caherdavin group of students to perform for us:- Carolanne Kenny, Jason Finn, Aaron Fitzgerald, Isabelle O'Meara and Sophie Butler. They played and sang 'Brown Eyed Girl', 'Take the Weather', 'I'll be There for You', 'Dancin in the Moonlight', and ' Hope You Dance'. These students were excellent also and demonstrated what can be achieved with a little more time and practise.
