Under 12s
Our under 12 footballers have qualified for the West Summer League Final. They had a good win over Drom-Broadford last Saturday in the semi-final. The final will take place in Abbeyfeale on Sunday, October 19, at 3pm, versus Gerald Griffins. These boys are now hoping to bring off the championship and league double. Best of luck lads. These same players were unlucky to lose out to a stronger Newcastle west side the previous week in the hurling semi-final. The hurling finals will take place in Ballingarry next Sunday, October 12. The trophies are sponsored by the O’Keeffe family in memory of Steven.
Under 16s
Our under 16 footballers, Na Fianna (Grange - Ballingarry - Cappagh), overcame a fancied Killulta Gaels team last Saturday afternoon in atrocious weather conditions in Croom to take the Division 2 title. They did us proud on the day with some exceptional performances. They gave a great display of football and teamwork, especially in the second half. The final score was Na Fianna 1-6, Killulta Gaels 0-3. Joint captains Stephen Foley and Kevin Moynihan were delighted to accept the cup on behalf of their team-mates. Thanks to Sean Donnelly and John O’Kelly for their total commitment and belief in this team. These lads will contest the Premier Hurling Shield semi-final next Saturday versus Na Piarsaigh. Venue and time not yet known. Bust of luck lads.
