WEBSITES:
The website www.letsomeoneknow.ie is part of the HSE’s Young People’s Mental Health Awareness Programme which was launched in October.
By providing information, making it easily available to young people in a medium that they are comfortable with, this will help improve their awareness and understanding of mental health.
The key message is that finding someone you trust to share a problem with, can have a positive effect on how you are feeling.
The target audience of 13-17 year olds have very high levels of digital media engagement. Social networking is a key part of teenage life and a medium which teenagers relate to. Online initiatives such as the bebo page which was developed for a “Your Mental Health’’ awareness initiative ‘Look after yourself, look after your mental health’ were a significant success with had unprecedented levels of engagement with the target audience. www.letsomeoneknow.ie has been designed specifically for young people and will not store our visitors information.
This may be a useful website to make young people aware of.
TEA DANCE:
Amazingly, the rain held off for the duration of the dance so patrons didn't get wet coming or going. We had a lovely crowd, as usual and everyone in great form for dancing. A few of our usuals were missing, due to colds and flu, so hopefully they are on the mend and we will see them in December. Our band ' The Marina' from Blarney were excellent and were as good to talk as they were to sing. We had two couples from Limerick, their first time coming, but certainly not their first time dancing - it was fabulous to watch their graceful movements. The rest of us will just have to keep on practicing. ! Many thanks to our committee members and helpers who turn up each Sunday, without fail and to the ladies who go to such great trouble to provide the delicious home baking.

Local Derby:
Last Sunday saw Granagh & Ballingarry B meet in the second Round of the Reidy Cup. Being a local derby it was expected to be a close
encounter, but Granagh proved to be too strong on the day. Stephen O` Brien who helped himself to a hat trick and a man of the match
performance, which set the way for what was to be a very convincing win for the home side with goals from Kieran Moloney, Kevin Fitzgibbon,
& a penalty strike for Mark Tierney to secure Granagh`s path into the next round in a 6 – 0 score line.
Townies V Culchies - Big match Saturday 5th of December - 3pm in Granagh, all players welcome for a bit of a laugh.
All those interested in playing contact Dermot O Hanlon on (086)3650568.
A THOUGHT FOR CHRISTMAS :
To avoid the hassle of shopping for gifts this year, maybe you might consider a donation to the Friends of St. Itas, instead of presents to family and friends.
All donations will be acknowledged and you will be supplied with a card to pass on to friends and relations. Cards available from Nora O'Keeffe, Ballingarry.
Well done to Ballingarry ICA members for organising the Christmas Shoe Box appeal - 125 boxes were handed in. Thank you to all who donated
