Local Notes, 2nd & 3rd Sept

Bookings: Just a reminder to clubs, organisations etc that you will need to contact the Secretary, Marian Noonan,
if you wish to use the Community Centre for meetings, classes etc. Already, there are three nights booked up each week.
As allot of work has been done on the Hall over the Summer, there are new charges and a list of very simple rules
to be followed.

Mass:
At our recent meeting, Fr. Lane and pastoral council members attended , to finalise plans for Fr. Mark Hedderman's
mass on Knockfierna. It will be timed for 7pm on Tuesday 8th Sept, and will go ahead even if weather conditions are not ideal.
However, to warm up everyone afterwards, and get a chance to meet Fr. Mark we will have a lovely tea laid on in
the Community Centre.
We will meet at the Hall on that Tuesday morning from 10am - 11am to set up tables and get everything prepared.

PARENTING COURSE:

The Parents' Association are in the process of organising a parenting course which will be run by a VEC tutor
over a ten week period, two hours per night, Thursday nights in the Community Centre. They are hoping to
begin the last week in September and have to have a minimum of fifteen people attending before they can go
ahead. It is open to everyone and will be very useful for parents with pre-school, school going or teenage children.
The course covers many areas including :- Learning difficulties, Time management, Communication skills, Study
skills, Positive thinking, Decision making, Coping skills, Self esteem and Stress management for both parents and
children and much more. Any parent who has availed of this course said it was very worthwhile and the fact that
you do not have to travel to the city is another plus in its favour. Please ring Marian Sheehy 087-9459863 for
further details.
